Chief's Welcome

Welcome to the website for the Clan MacLennan.

On this site you can find out more about the MacLennan's past, present and future. And the links will help you search for ancestors and meet clansfolk around the world - there's probably someone from the clan near you wherever you live or travel.

I wish all Clansfolk a warm welcome to our Clan MacLennan World Gathering on 24 July 2009, in Edinburgh, which will precede "The Gathering 2009" of all Clans on 25 and 26 July 2009, also in Edinburgh. I look forward to seeing many Clansfolk over for both these events.

Our Clan is steeped in lore and history, the first recorded mention being in 1217.

The MacLennan family has flourished and we have members of the Clan Association's in all corners of the world. It is my dearest hope that we can unite MacLennan's throughout the world in a spirit of respect and co-operation to further the hopes and aspirations of all members.

The Clan motto of "Dum Spiro Spero" - "While I Breathe, I Hope" is an inspiration when we may be facing times of adversity and forms the backbone of the MacLennan approach to triumph.

I hope that you will enjoy having discovered our website and we welcome new members to our Clan Association's from all four corners of the globe.
