Scottish House is the only Scottish organisation to be formed with just one purpose in mind - to provide Scottish/Australians with a cultural centre.

Because of this focus, it is non-aligned with any other group.

Scottish House represents all Scottish/Australians and regardless of your affiliation with any other type of Scottish group, you may still become a participant in achieving its goals.

ALREADY ACHIEVED:

  • Collection of a large amount of archival material, books and magazines
  • Assistance from Ethnic Affairs and a healthy bank balance
  • Acknowledgement and assistance from overseas
  • Ongoing acceptance by the wider Scottish community
  • Running the Scottish Information Service
  • Premises open to the public, containing a library and Internet access
  • Regularly updated calendar of major Scottish and Celtic related events
  • A Scottish House website (www.scottishhouse.org.au)
  • Assistance to those involved in family research

PRESENT GOALS

  • Wider circulation and enlargement of THE SCOTS CONNECTION
  • Holding further affordable functions not provided by other groups
  • Assisting Australian Scots to learn about their Scottish roots
  • Storage area where records and archival material may be kept for research

FUTURE AIMS

To have premises with sufficient space for:

  • The teaching of Scottish traditions and culture
  • To serve as a meeting place for Scottish groups
  • To house an extensive library of printed material of all kinds, relevant to those interested in Scotland and and Scots in Australia
